Cold Process Handmade Natural Soap Making Workshop

Join us for a half-day class to learn the art of natural cold-process soap making. Whether you are just curious about how soap is made, or would like to take up a new hobby, this class is a chance to learn in a friendly atmosphere. The class size is limited to 8 people (and will only go ahead with a minimum of 6 people). Learning to make your own handmade natural cold-process soap means that you can avoid plastic waste from buying soap or body wash. you can control what ingredients are in your soap so that its great for your skin (and avoid the toxic ingredients in some skincare products). And you can safe money by making your own soap to use or for gifts.  

You might have watched a few "Youtubes" on soap making or read a book, but there is nothing like an in-person hands-on workshop to teach you to make cold-process soap. In this workshop, via hands-on experience and demonstration by the instructor, you will you will learn:

• The basic theory and safety of cold-process soap making
• How to weigh your lye and mix it with water
• How to choose your oils and weigh them
• How to choose other natural ingredients, including essential oils
• How to mix all your ingredients and pour into soap moulds
• How to unmould your cold-process soap

These cold-process soap making classes are taught by a chemical engineer who has been making soap for over 10 years. You can ask all the questions and go into as much detail as you would like. BUT you don’t need a chemistry degree to make soap! Anyone who can follow a basic recipe can learn to make cold-process soap.

This cold-process soap making class is perfect for beginners as it starts from the basics and shows you how to follow a soap recipe. You learn how to make natural cold-process soap from ingredients you can buy from the supermarket and hardware store, and equipment you probably already have at home. We only use natural ingredients, so you learn to make soap that is great for your skin.

 What is provided as part of the cold-process natural soap making workshop?

• All safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses, waterproof apron)
• All ingredients to make cold-process soap, including oils, lye and essential oils
• All equipment needed to make cold-process soap
• Tea and coffee

What you need to bring to the cold-process natural soap making workshop

• Rubber gloves will be provided in various sizes, but if you have a preference, please bring your own
• Please wear casual clothes including a long-sleeved top and closed toe shoes. Aprons will be provided, but you may spill oils or soap on your clothes, so wear clothes that you don’t mind getting stained.

Safety precautions

• In this class you will be working with lye. Safety equipment and instructions will be provided throughout the class. We ask that you follow the directions of the instructor at all times to avoid personal injury. Anyone who refuses to wear safety equipment may be asked to leave the class and will not receive a refund.
• Due to the hazards of cold-process soap making, this class is limited to people over the age of 18 (or over the age of 12 with a caregiver present in the class).

Other information

• No refunds are given unless the class is cancelled, students will be given an option to refund or join the class on another occasion. If you can't attend, you can exchange your ticket with someone else.
• By purchasing a ticket to the class, you consent to photos taken during the class being used for marketing purposes, on websites, Facebook, Instagram etc. If you do not consent, please make this known to the instructor prior to the class.
